Dal settembre 2011 l'opera di Kusama, artista giapponese tra le più influenti della seconda metà del ventesimo secolo, fa parte della collezione permanente esposta al Museo  Boijmans Van Beuningen di Rotterdam.

Ad oggi è facile vedere artisti contemporanei che creano istallazioni legale allo spazio, giocando con illusioni di profondità e legami tra luci e forme. 

Ma quest'opera è datata 1965 ed è la prima di una serie di istallazioni dell'artista legale a poche e semplici materie prime - vetro, tessuto, pois - caratterizzanti i Mirrored Years.
